I know what you mean. I have not hatched myself in about a year and swore I wouldn't but here I am with showgirl eggs in the bator! You are right, I can't sit there and do nothing if they are struggling and I do help but it seemed not all that I helped had problems but it seemed all that had problems were ones I had helped. Some made it and some didn't.

You to are so right, I can't watch them struggle either. I would go to my brothers house to see the new fuzzy butts and my Sister-in-lw would just let them struggle and die. I would say if as nurses I did the same to people? She would just look at me an walk away.

Yes I can't stand there and not help. But I try to do as little as possible. I usually just try to make sure they can breath if it takes long from that first pip. I'll make the hole open. I think oxygen helps, LOL

I haven't really tracked it, but I'm gonna start to see what the results will be on this end. You have me thinking more about dry incubation. What do you think??

There is  slim chance of them making it after being helped it seems. I`m like you I usually do it only as a last resort.                                                                                                                                                  We have a thread on dry incubation if you haven`t seen it. Compliments of Hencackle. Never tried it myself but it is an interesting article.

I'm thinking I'll try this on some mixed eggs just to see if it works in my still air.

I had done this exact method last year. I was having horrible hatch rates. My last couple batches I tried the dry method and my hatch rates did increase tremendously! I do not have a humidifier at the moment for the room for this hatch so I have been adding a little water and not letting it go above 35% and only adding a little when it goes under 30% But I do wait a bit before adding so we will see how this hatch does. I just candled today and all that were fertile to start with are still hanging in there! Keeping my fingers crossed!

So let me know how it goes please. As to the humidity in the room I have a pan of water on the heater to help with my asthma. So the humidty runs about 30 % in the house.

I will! You will be bombarded with pictures when they hatch! LOL
The only problem I noticed with the new bator is that the temp tends to creep up on me. I am hoping that doesn't hurt my hatch more than the humidity. It is a hovabator.
My old one was an LG and it held the temp great but humidity was all over the place and that is when I decided to just run it dry and adjust the room humidity and it worked so much better. I did add water for the last 3 days though to bump it up.
